Si-Fu Chris Sequera

Si-Bah Cris started his martial arts career much the same way as most of us, by watching movie after movie and mimicking the moves executed by "heroes" like Jacky Chan and Bruce Lee. However 13 years ago he realized that this was not the ideal way to train and enrolled at the Shaolin Martial Art Centre in Brixton. When he reached the level of Red Sash he began to train under Sifu Bruce and a year and half later started training privately with him as well, something that has not changed since.

It was always Si Bah’s dream to compete, and in 1993, at green sash level, he got his opportunity. He went with the Shaolin team to China, where he competed in four different categories.
Those Categories Were:

Open Hand Form
Tiger Form
2nd Pole Form
Choreographed Sparring

From these forms, Si Bah Cris was honored as the overall winner in his weight category (age 18-35), competing against students with many years more experience. From then on, Si Bah competed in every local competition, then this year he returned to China to compete yet again. At this competition he was awarded with 4 gold medals.

In spite of such high achievements, Si bah Cris remains extremely humble and understands that this level of proficiency is only achieved by dedication and lots and lots of practice. He continues his training every day by himself as well as training with Sifu Bruce and Sigung. When questioned on why he kept such dedication, he told me that it was not just the achievements, but the fact that he felt part of a family, which is what the "Leong Cheung Family System" personifies.
